How to Change Page Layout in Microsoft Word

Instructions

    • 1
Click "File" and then "Page Setup" menu on the top of the Microsoft Word screen while inside the document you are working with. A dialog box will appear on your screen that contains four choices listed in tab format.
    • 2
Click on "Margins" tab to change the margin settings by number. Generally left and right margins range between .5" and 1.0". Click the numbers accordingly to change.
    • 3
Click the "Paper Size" tab which is to the right of the "Margins" tab in that same dialog box. This is especially helpful for changing the orientation in Word from Portrait to Landscape (horizontal printing). You can also adjust the paper size, for example to 8 1/2" x 14" if you have legal or to many other size choices. Just type in the numbers as needed. Apply changes to all or part of the document by using the drop down arrow towards the bottom and click "OK."
    • 4
Click the "Paper Source" tab to change the printer your Word document is going to. Click "OK" to save your changes.
    • 5
Click the "Layout" tab to change headers and footers, start a new section, change alignment, use line numbers or borders. Click "OK" to save your changes.
